Two PSC Venues land in the top 5 Veggie Friendly Parks!

June 19, 2013 — After multiple years of being considered a Vegetarian-Friendly ballpark, ONEOK Field, home of the Tulsa Drillers, has been named by PETA as the Most Vegetarian-Friendly Minor League Ballpark of 2013. The Drillers took home the top spot thanks to a delicious meat-free menu provided by its food and beverage operator, Professional Sports Catering.

“After many years in a row of being considered one of the most health conscious ballparks in minor league baseball, it is a great reward to be named the Most Vegetarian-Friendly, “ said Director of Food and Beverage Carter Witt. “We work hard with the Drillers and fans from across the region to put out healthy, delicious items for all our patrons.”

In addition to specialty veggie dogs on gourmet buns and homemade veggie burgers on pretzel buns, fans can enjoy a tofu noodle entrée, "meaty" Portobello mushroom burgers, bean burritos, tofu burritos, and fresh-fruit cups.

Elsewhere, Fifth Third Bank Field in Dayton, OH, home of the Dayton Dragons, made the list for the first time. The PSC staff there made a conscious effort to bring healthier options to the ballpark. “During our interactions with fans last season there was a consistent request for healthier options on the concourse,” said Sr. Director of Food & Beverage Austin Sagolla. “We addressed these concerns over the offseason and feel honored to be on this list.”

PETA senior vice president Lisa Lange agrees. "The more fans learn about the health benefits of eating vegan foods, the more they ask for delicious meat-free options," said Lange. "Going vegetarian is like pulling off a triple play: You protect your health, help keep the environment clean and save animals' lives."

PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is the largest animal rights organization in the world, boasting more than 3 million members and supporters.

Fans can find healthier options throughout PSC’s venues by searching for the Healthy Options logo at each concession stand.
